NRC Proposes Major Changes to Radiation Protection Rules

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has proposed significant revisions to its radiation protection regulations, including replacing the ALARA standard with a graded approach to dose management and updating requirements related to patient release, caregiver exposure, occupational dose, and public dose. AAPM subject matter experts are reviewing the proposal and developing organizational comments ahead of the August 31 deadline.
